A Letter from our AES Annual Fund Chairs

Dear Ascension Episcopal School Community,

We hope that everyone shares our sense of wonder and excitement as we begin the school year at AES. Our son Wesley has been at AES since he was 3 months old and looks forward to his PK4 year ahead. Whether you are a returning family or new to our school, we know that you will find AES provides our children with a uniquely nurturing educational environment that supports intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual development as the foundation of future success.

As both parents of an AES student and parishioners of Ascension Episcopal Church, we welcomed the call to serve as this year’s Annual Fund Co-Chairs, inviting all of our fellow parents, families, and friends in the Ascension community to join us in becoming committed stakeholders in the future of our school, and, by extension, all of our children’s education.

Since our school is non-profit, contributions to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible to the extent legally allowed, and serve to fulfill those needs not entirely covered by tuition payments alone. Examples of these needs include:

  • Tuition subsidies for families needing assistance, enabling more students and families to join our school community.
  • Updated curriculum and teacher training to support it, providing our children with the best learning opportunities we can offer.
  • Ongoing improvements in the form of classroom enhancements, library stewardship, educational technology investments, and facilities upgrades.

We understand that each of our school’s families already invest substantially in their children’s education in the form of AES tuition, so the appeal for Annual Fund contributions should be considered by each family in light of its own circumstances. There is one caveat: we strongly encourage each and every family to participate – no amount is too small. If we can achieve 100% participation in this fundraising effort, our school can qualify for more grants to supplement funding, as these applications are scored on fundraising participation.

Please help us achieve our goal of reaching 100% participation by November 2, 2018 and contribute towards our overall fundraising goal of $30,000 for this year. You may contribute online at our website, www.aeshouston.org/ annul fund or by using the pledge card provided with this letter. Also, you may elect to have your pledge spaced out in multiple installments, rather than paid all at once. If your employer has a matching gift program, please take advantage of that by providing them with our school’s independent tax ID number, 74-1778661.

Thank you for your support of our school and your commitment to its community,

Sara & Tim Gilheart
