inquiry-based learning works really well for many students um all students can benefit from inquiry specifically students who are very creative students who maybe don't do well in a traditional setting where they have to sit still all the time and they're not able to move those tend to be our students who do really really my name is Edgar Chavez I work at Ascension Episcopal School and this is my third year as a Pre-K 3 teacher what I love about inquiry is that I get to see my kids uh engage and actually actively participating in what they want to learn coming from a traditional classroom we basically just gave them all books or worksheets and explained the topic at hand I've seen that my students actively participate in our engaged and wanting to learn every day are excited to learn every day rather than blindly giving information and feeling them with whatever we talked about there's a lot of Independence here extension but there's also a lot of guidance in terms of how we run our classrooms this is student-led but the teachers are simply guides so our students are getting excited about what they want to learn and our teachers are helping to back our students through proven educational methods something that's also really different about Ascension is that we do incorporate core standards with inquiry based learning so what that means is we have inquiry-based learning as our main focus and then we have rotation centers where we focus on core standards such as math literacy science and social studies because we understand the value that parents place on these types of things
